Where: All Ballet Santa Barbara classes are held at Santa Barbara Dance Arts, located at 1 Calle Cesar Chavez, Suite 100, located between Yanonali and Cabrillo Blvd. on the beach side of the freeway. Please use the side entrance next to Kim3. SBDA has ample parking. BSB classes will be held in the green studio with the black marley floor.

BALLET: Carrie Diamond

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet: Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30-11:00
Beginning Ballet: Thursdays, 11:30-12:45
Intermediate/Advanced ballet classes are accompanied on the piano by Ballet Santa Barbara music director, Eric Valinsky.

Ms. Diamond utilizes a careful and detailed teaching approach emphasizing a centered placement of the spine and pelvis. Each student is personally guided towards greater understanding of the capabilities and limitations of his or her "instrument".

CONTEMPORARY DANCE: Susan Alexander

Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary: Fridays, 10:00-11:30
Beginning Contemporary: Saturdays, 10:00-11:15

PLEASE NOTE: Contemporary Dance classes will be suspended for one month, from September 18 through October 23. Intermediate/Advanced classes will be held September 3, 10, and 17, and then resume weekly on October 29. Beginning class will be held on September 11, and then resume weekly on October 30.

Ms. Alexander, formerly Professor of Contemporary Dance at the Paris Conservatory of Music and Dance and for the Paris Opera Ballet Company, was also a member of the dance faculty at the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio in New York.

Ballet Santa Barbara Community Outreach News

"Moving to Learn" moves to McKinley School

BSB's standards-based dance residency program, "Moving to Learn", has expanded to K and 1st graders at McKinley Elementary School. Additionally, we are working with the 1st graders at Roosevelt Elementary School. The first session, teaching second graders, culminated in a thrilling performance at the Lobero Theatre on January 20, 2010. Find out more information here
